Ready to discover what your body is truly capable of beneath the surface? The PADI Freediver Level 1 course is your gateway into the incredible world of breath-hold diving. Designed for beginners, this course teaches the essential skills, safety techniques, and breathing strategies needed to freedive confidently and comfortably.
With a strong emphasis on safety, relaxation, and proper technique, you’ll build the foundation needed to extend your breath hold while staying calm and in control, skills Blake brings to life with her experience as a PADI Divemaster, Freediving Instructor, and Shark Safety Diver.
Course Schedule
🖥️ Pre-Course Zoom Session (1.5 hours)
Before we ever get in the water, we’ll meet virtually to set you up for success. This session includes:
Freediving physiology basics
Proper breath-hold and breathing techniques
Relaxation and visualization methods
Essential stretching for freedivers
Course overview and safety expectations
Q&A to make sure you feel fully prepared
🏊 Confined Water Session (Half Day)
In a pool or pool-like environment, students will practice and master foundational skills in a controlled setting.
Skills include:
Static apnea practice
Proper duck dive technique
Efficient finning and body position
Surface protocol and recovery breathing
Buddy procedures and safety skills
Goal: Build comfort, technique, and safety awareness before open water.
🌊 Open Water Session (Half Day)
Time to take your skills into the real ocean environment! Under close supervision, students will apply what they’ve learned.
Skills and performance goals include:
Constant weight freedives
Proper descent and ascent technique
Line diving procedures
Buddy positioning and supervision
Minimum open water depth target: 10 meters / 30 feet
Minimum static apnea performance target: 90 seconds
(All performance goals follow PADI Freediver standards.)
